SHERBORN RECYCLING COMMITTEE

I.        Minutes of the December Meeting were approved.

            Thank you’s:

1        Andrea for making a sign for the price of recycling bins

2        Andrea for her work on the welcome bins

3        Jane Pusch for her work at the Natick Collection.

4        Karl for the December minutes

II .Announcements, Old and New Business

A.     The Committee discussed Carol’s visit to the Board of Selectmen(BOS) and Advisory Committee.  It remains to be seen whether the Advisory Committee will keep the water bottles in the budget.

B.     The Committee discussed finding 100 people who would pre-pay $10 for each water bottle.  We discussed doing this project with CSA. We also talked about ideas of how and where to sell them.  It was decided CSA could sell their own bottles at the Transfer station but that the staff would not be able to do it for CSA.

C.     Spring clean-up:  Chris Peck (BOS) informed Carol that CMD already does all of the main streets, and that it is too dangerous for residents to do the clean up on the streets.

D.     The Committee discussed removing fees for Refrigerators and monitors. Carol will meet with BOS on Feb 5 to discuss this. Dennis wanted to give it another month to make sure this was really going to happen. Need to see invoices after Dec,10 to confirm.

E.      Ron discussed what needed to be finished on new office. This included the sheetrock being taped and painted, tile floor, counter, and outside being painted. Ron would get people to look at it and get some prices to finish job. Carol would find out how much money is left in article.

F.      The Committee discussed the party at Community Center for Carol DeFusco and what it takes to make sure they recycle better. Carol attended the party and had to ask them to bring out recycling barrels that the Committee bought for Community Center and made sure that they adhered to the rules. As a result of discussions following the event,  CSA is now willing to be “model organization” and will recycle at all their events, being an example to all other town groups.

G.     Carol told Committee that Dianne is now waiting for a mission statement for the website.

H.     Committee read annual report and made some modifications before being submitted.

I.        Committee discussed use of metal building at Recycling Center when new Highway building is completed. One thing was to stop the sweating inside building , so things stored inside would not get ruined. Another would be to have stable floor to have solid base to put things on.                                                              Tonnage report:

      In December 07 –

Commingled: 5 trips – 1 more than last month and tonnage is up.
